Budapest in solitaria

Ciao a tutti, 

Dal 28 aprile fino al 1 Maggio sarò in vacanza a Budapest per conto mio. 

È il primo viaggio che faccio da solo: era da un po' di tempo che pensavo di fare un'esperienza di questo tipo, sia per provare la libertà di non essere legati a nessuno che per mettermi alla prova (ovvero cavarmela da solo, seppur entro certi limiti). 

Ho scelto Budapest per il fascino che la Mitteleuropa esercita da sempre in me: inoltre è una città che si presta ad essere visitata facilmente, almeno per quanto riguarda i principali punti di interesse, vista la  relativa vicinanza di quest'ultimi e la presenza di una fitta rete di collegamenti (tram, metro, autobus) nelle zone turistiche. 

A chi di voi ha già compiuto viaggi in solitaria e/o è stato a Budapest vorrei chiedere 2 consigli:

-) Sicurezza: il fatto di essere in vacanza da solo in un paese straniero fa sorgere in me alcuni dubbi. 

Ovviamente soldi contanti solo per lo stretto necessario, quando possibile pagare con carta prepagata e non portare bancomat/carta di credito, se è necessario prendere un taxi farlo tramite l'app Bolt che garantisce delle sicurezze in più. 

Vale la pena comprarsi un telefono da quattro soldi in più da lasciare in albergo, nel malaugurato caso in cui il telefono principale andasse perso? 

Mi sembra di capire che Budapest sia una città relativamente sicura: cercando su Internet ho letto che di notte è meglio evitare I Distretti VII e VIII, la zona del castello e l'isola Margherita.

Il mio pensiero è rivolto al muovermi di notte tramite mezzi pubblici o a piedi, considerando che ho l'albergo vicino alla piazza Deak Ter, una zona molto centrale, e che con 10 minuti a piedi riesco a raggiungere sia i famosi ruin pubs che la discoteca Instant. 

Essendo zone turistiche immagino che siano relativamente popolate e sicure anche di notte, ma mi concedo il beneficio del dubbio...anche se rinunciare alla vita notturna di Budapest lo vedrei come un peccato mortale. 

Magari le mie sono preoccupazioni infondate, ma meglio stare in campana. 

-) Donne: partendo dal fatto che non ho intenzione di andare a pagamento (posso farlo tranquillamente qui in Italia) quello che voglio fare, senza lasciare che mi condizioni l'intera vacanza, è provarci in un contesto nel quale non ho pressioni dovute alla presenza di persone che conosco. 

Nel frattempo mi sono scaricato tinder gold per cercare di prepararmi il terreno (ma non so se funzionerà 😂) ma per "aprirmi" di più vorrei provare ad approcciare dal vivo e penso che i pub e la discoteca che ho menzionato sopra potrebbero essere ottime scelte... se qualcuno ha avuto esperienza di questi o altri posti, sappia che sono tutt'orecchi. 

Inoltre mi piacerebbe sapere quale sia la predisposizione delle donne ungheresi nei confronti dei turisti, considerando che parlo bene l'inglese e che non ho intenzione di comportarmi da itaGliano medio (anche perché non mi ritengo tale).

Ti copio e incollo delle info che sono di un paio d'anni fa scritte da un tizio che ha vissuto e frequenta ancora la città, dovrebbero essere rilevanti ancora oggi per la maggior parte.

Where to Stay
=============

The Pest side of Budapest for gaming options. Full stop. Buda is tranquil, but a lot sleepier and has fewer options.

To be more specific, the optimal place will be in the 7th district just North of Ertzebet Korut (I will explain why in a bit). The 7th District between Kiraly Utch, Rakozy Utca, Ertzebet and Terez Korut is where majority of action happens. This is also known as the 'party district' However if you want to pull local chicks and have credibility, it does help not to stay smack-bang in the centre of the party district (it screams tourist), but to have a place on the outer fringes of here (just north of Ertzebet) that is still within a 10 minute walk, so still good for logistics. However, for the first few months of living here, I initially stayed in the centre of the party district and that had really never hindered my game, so this shouldn't put you off in the slightest.


Daygame
======

The younger generation Hungarians (below 35) and especially ones who live in Budapest tend to be okay with speaking English (it is surprising how low the percentage of people who speak English here is- say compared to say Belgrade); However if she is under 30, you should definitely be able to communicate (she may be a bit shy as her English may be rusty at first, but humour always helps as an opener).

Varosliget (Central Park): Just to the north of the 7th district and within a 15 minute walk of said apartment (if you choose to stay somewhere just north of Ertzebet): Lots of women in this park. Hungarian women could be suspicious at first, but if you start with lame game (say ask for directions) and build up upon this with some humour, you should be fine.

Margaret Sziget (Margaret Island): Same as above. Beautiful park in the middle of the Danube. All Budapestans go here when the weather is good. This is good for daygame or COVID outside-date game. Highly recommended
Extra Tip: Hungarians tend to be good swimmers and generally love swimming. You can even go on a swim (or spa date- see below) it will go down well if your date is Hungarian. Brownie points.

Schechelni Spa: See above- This is a bit touristy, however it is pratically the only spa in Budapest you can daygame. And it just takes daygame to a whole new level. Lots of women come in groups here, so easy to open sets. However a wingman is recommended. if you go solo dolo, you'll look like a loner.

Rudas Spa: My favourite and also a favourite with the locals. This is on the Buda side on the edge of the Danube. Not great for daygame but great as a date (even first date). If she is Hungarian, you get brownie points.

Getting Around Budapest (Transport)
=======================

Walk it- very photogenic, walkable city. Or if too lazy Fotaxi, 6x6 Taxi or Bolt (All Apps). I have found 6x6 to be the cheapest; but the drivers do not always speak English and my Hungarian is patchy.

Recommendations For Going Out on Day Dates/Nightgame
=================================

Budapest is really blessed with a plethora of options. I have lived in NY and London and I must say pound for pound (when adjusted for size) Budapest leaves London in the shade and gives NY a run for its money.
Most of the places mentioned below are either in or very close to the 7th district

Date Game (Day)
==========

Csendes Vintage Bar: Beautiful bar. Good for dates and though central close to Ferenciek Ter, off the beaten path as not touristy. If she is a local, bonus points for taking her here. 

360 Bar: Rooftop bar on Andrassy Avenue. Open all year round with stunning views of the city. They even have warm igloos for when it gets too cold. good touch. Also a good night game venue.

Kiszuzem: Bohemian pub on Dob Utca (7th District) on Friday and Saturday nights easy to pull here. I have had a good success rate. This can also double as a date venue is she is a bit hippy.

Jelen: Good Bisztro with affordabe lunches. Arty but unpretentious. A good touch- this is on the edge of the 8th district, but a 10 minute alk from most parts of the 7th.

Kalap: A bisztró on Wesselényi (7th) that does good brunches. Affordable too. Good day date venue.

Dorado Cafe: The best coffee in Budapest (some other places run it close-). Okay, I may be a bit biased as I know the owner. Another good cafe is Massolit Cafe (also in the 7th, Nagy Diofa; 5 minutes from Dorado). It's a quiet cafe, but women that come here tend to be chill and approachable. If you see one you fancy, daygame is like shooting fish in a barrel.

Date Game (Night Bars): 
=================

Black Swan Budapest. Off the beaten path speakeasy bar. Close to Klauzal in the 7th. Quite pricey and only go here if you want to impress. Neat place.

Doblo: This is on Dob Utca in the 7th. Fairly pricey wine Bar and only go if you want to impress your date. On weekends, there is another speakeasy bar that will really impress close to this one. DM me for details.

360 Bar: On Andrassy (6th District) also mentioned further above. Good at night too.

Night/Night Game
=================
Gozdu Udvar: 

Anywhere here in Gozdu will cater to pretty much any taste/type. 

Gozdu is a narrow alleyway/strip of bars and clubs between Dob Utca and Kiralyi Utca in the 7th district. Though it ranges for taste. If you are after tourist or latin chicks, Vicky Barcelona. Black guys do well in 4bro and Pivo and Bar, if you want loutish British or Dutch chicks, any of the two Karaokee Bars on this strip will suffice. For middle Eastern Game, the Shisha Bar on the Roof Terrace of the Skybar tends to attract M/E and Asian chicks.

Szimpla Kert: Most touristy ruin pubs. A Budapest institution though. If you are after tourist game (a fair few Russian chicks come here as well) then here is your place,  

Instant and Fogaz: Budapest isn't complete without a mention of here. A Budapest institution as well. Open all week till 6am and if all else fails, then here is your place. very easy to pull, especially tourist chicks. During the week however the clientele tend to be very young (like 18-22 year olds), if you are older from Thursday onwards you're good- a bit of an older crowd on these days.

Doboz (The Box): Another Ruin Bar/Club. Same as above but only open on weekends. A bit more upmarket. Very easy to pull here.

Clubs: 
====

Yellow, Budapest: A bit pretentious sometimes but good fun. Fairly more expensive (the ruin bar options are all a lot cheaper than clubs).

BOB: Next to Yellow. Bumps on Wednesday nights. Easy to pull here too.

Otkert: Traditional old school out-and-out club. Not far from BOB/Yellow- Decent club on weekends. Fairly easy to pull. Sometimes there is a queue to get in, get there fairly early (before midnight).

Peaches and Cream: In the 6th district. Overrated. Also there are queues to get in sometimes (it helped that I knew the bouncer). Average age here tends to be 21. I have been just once (for 15 minutes) and bounced elsewhere.

Personalmente quando viaggio ho sempre un telefono, una carta smart (N26) e un documento (passaporto) di backup.

Se perdi portafogli e telefono, sono cazzi e sei da solo.

A volte ci penso anch'io.

Il telefono è diventato un documento, se lo si perde è un casino.

E poi la gestione dei conti online la si fa con lo stesso telefono...

 

Come si fa ad avere un backup dei documenti e del telefono?

Confesso che sono emozionato al pensiero di fare questo viaggio da solo... è un'esperienza che non ho mi fatto prima d'ora. 

Sono un po' nervoso principalmente per il discorso logistico (paura di non ritrovarmi con treni e metro sia per i viaggi di andata e ritorno che in loco) ma me la caverò. 

Spero di godermi la città, di svuotare la mente per qualche giorno...e anche di provarci con qualcuna: non mi sono fatto grandi aspettative e non voglio basare la mia vacanza su quest'ultimo punto, voglio solo cogliere l'occasione per sbloccarmi un po'.

Il viaggio da solo è una bella esperienza, anche i contrattempi o la logistica perché poi ti fanno fare un balzo in avanti enorme rispetto alla gente che si sente indipendente perché viaggia ma se le cose non vanno come esattamente pianificato sbroccano.

Il viaggio è andato bene...un'esperienza che ripeterò in futuro. 

Sono stato in grado di cavarmela perfettamente da solo e non ho avuto problemi particolari con mezzi di trasporto e simili. 

Budapest è una città bellissima, nel poco tempo a mia disposizione mi sono immerso nella sua cultura e nel suo cibo (consiglio a tutti di assaggiare il Tokaj) e dal punto di vista della sicurezza non ho avuto problemi: mai mi sono sentito in pericolo e mai hanno tentato di truffarmi, cosa su cui molti in giro per il web si raccomandano di stare in guardia. 

Peccato che non abbia avuto modo di provarci con qualcuna: la sera in cui avevo programmato di andare a ballare sono tornato in albergo alle 22:00 dopo aver camminato per tutto il giorno e... sono crollato. 

Ma non importa più di tanto: non era questo lo scopo del viaggio ma in futuro mi ricorderò di non strafare durante la giornata se poi si ha intenzione di fare serata. 

Questa esperienza, oltre che dei punti di forza, ha fatto emergere anche un mio punto debole: ho dei forti blocchi nell'approcciare ragazze che non conosco, anche solo per chiedere loro di farmi una foto, e questo è direttamente proporzionale alla bellezza delle ragazze in questione. 

Nel complesso è stata una bella esperienza, sono contento di averla fatta...e mi sto già organizzando per il prossimo viaggio 😁

Hai fatto un passo in più affrontando questo viaggio da solo, vanne fiero.

Per la questione tipe, non stare a farti il sangue amaro per provarci in vacanza: piuttosto nel prossimo viaggio matcha qualcuna su Tinder prima di partire che ti faccia da guida e con cui conoscere eventualmente altre.

In molti posti riesci a concludere più quando ci torni le seconde/terze volte, dopo che la prima hai fatto qualche conoscenza senza secondi fini o troppe aspettative, scambiandoti un contatto ad esempio su Instagram.
